🗺️ Selection Process

The selection process consists of two primary competitive stages totaling 250 Marks, followed by certificate verification.

Stage 1: Written Test (200 Marks)

  • Mode & Type: OMR-based test or Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Total Questions & Marks: 100 questions, each carrying 2 marks, making a total of 200 marks.
  • Duration: 2 Hours.
  • Negative Marking: 0.50 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Qualifying Marks: 40% for Unreserved (UR) category candidates; 30% for SC and ST category candidates.
  • Syllabus Breakup:
    • General English (Graduation Level): 60 Marks (Verbs, Tenses, Voice, Agreement, Connectors, Speech, Clauses, Articles, Nouns, Adjectives, Prepositions, Unseen passage of 400-450 words).
    • General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 40 Marks (Historical events, Geography, States/Countries/Headquarters, Books and authors, Scientific discoveries, Current events).
    • General Mathematics (HSC Standard): 40 Marks (Fractions, Decimals, Number System, HCF/LCM, Roots, Percentage, Averages, Interest, Profit/Loss, Mixtures, Partnership, Ratio, Time/Work/Distance, Statistics).
    • Reasoning & Mental Ability: 60 Marks (Numerical ability, Reasoning, Aptitude, Problem solving, Decision making).

Stage 2: Computer Skill Test (50 Marks)

  • Shortlisting Ratio: Candidates will be shortlisted category-wise at a 1:2 ratio (two times the vacancy) based on written test performance.
  • Duration & Marks: 50 marks, 1 Hour duration.
  • Qualifying Minimum: 20 marks required for all categories.
  • Syllabus Fields: Windows Operating System (file/folder operations), MS Word (editing, formatting, setup), MS Power Point (slide creation/editing), MS Excel (spreadsheets, functions, formulas), and MS Access (database entry, primary key).

Tie-Breaking Protocol

  • For Skill Test Shortlisting: In case of a written test score tie, the aggregate percentage of marks in the Bachelor's degree determines merit. If a tie persists, the candidate born earlier is preferred.
  • For Final Selection: Marks of Written Test and Computer Skill Test are combined. In case of a tie, the written test score takes priority. If a tie remains, the older candidate by date of birth is selected.

📝 How to Apply Online

  1. Visit the official website of the State Selection Board, Odisha: www.ssbodisha.ac.in.
  2. Click on the online application link available on the homepage designated for Junior Assistant recruitment in CHSE (O) under Advt No. 03/2026.
  3. Read the detailed instructions page carefully before starting the application form entry.
  4. Fill in all personal, academic, and contact details. Enter your aggregate graduation percentage precisely (convert CGPA using your university formula).
  5. Upload your latest passport-size photograph (taken within 15 days before submission), a scanned image of your full signature, and your left-hand thumb impression. Ensure all images are clearly visible.
  6. Pay the non-refundable application fee (₹500 for general categories, ₹200 for SC/ST) online through the integrated payment gateway.
  7. Verify all information carefully before clicking submit. Note that there is no edit option after final submission.
  8. Download the successfully completed application form printout and save a copy for the document verification phase.

⚠️ 3 Common Mistakes to Avoid

  1. Entering Raw CGPA Without Numerical Conversion: The board strictly requires the entry of the exact percentage of aggregate marks for the undergraduate degree. Failing to apply your university's official conversion formula can cause a tie-breaker disqualification.
  2. Using Old or Unidentifiable Photographs: The passport-size photograph must be taken within 15 days of your application submission. Uploading blurred images, unclear signatures, or faint left-hand thumb impressions will lead to immediate application rejection.
  3. Attempting to Change Category Post-Payment: The category selected during the online payment process is treated as final. The board explicitly states that subsequent requests to alter category status under any circumstances will not be entertained.
